For yesterday's art/sensory experience, we tried s For yesterday's art/sensory experience, we tried salt dough for the first time. . The girls mixed the dough, and then asked for cookie cutters. They made dinosaur fossils -- a really FUN, simple process! . (More pics in our stories.)

It's been six months since we began isolating (my husband works with high-risk seniors, so we are extra cautious), and it's really hitting me hard this week. . I miss our regular adventures. I didn't realize how often we took day trips and how much spontaneous learning happened because of them. . So we talked about it and came up with a plan. Each day, we'll look up the #onthisday history and learn more about one of the events. . Today's tidbit was about Gandhi, which got us talking about the partition of India and Pakistan in the 1940s and The Night Diary, a phenomenal book I read earlier in the year. . Maybe we can't travel right now, but our books can still take us to new places and teach us new things. ♥️
Two years ago, we were having lunch in Green Bay, Two years ago, we were having lunch in Green Bay, Wisconsin when my husband says to me, "Want to drive to Michigan?" . So we all hopped in the car, drove an hour to the UP, and jumped out to take pictures in front of this lighthouse. . I am a planner. My husband is spontaneous. Our adventures are epic when I say YES to his out-of-the-box ideas. ♥️
There's more to life than a checked-off to-do list There's more to life than a checked-off to-do list. . As a type-A perfectionist, I'm learning to let some things go. My mental and emotional health are too important (and often my physical health is tied to my anxiety level, too). . I want my kids to live a balanced life. We can't always do it all and do it well. Sometimes, we choose to leave a few items unchecked for the sake of balance and relationship. ♥️
