Back in 2004 (way, way back), I was an elementary school teacher for a small class of 1st and 2nd graders. We spent a whole month on election season, learning more about how our government is set up, and why we vote for our leaders. I would have loved to have a list of election books for kids back then!

(You’ll notice that some of the books I included in this post were fairly new at that time, like Duck for President and So You Want to Be President — but a classic never goes out of style, right?)

There have been many great election books for kids published in the last two decades, and I wanted to share some that we have read and enjoyed as a family. If you have additional recommendations, I would love for you to leave them in the comments!
